Stoplights: Recylced lighting fixtures

Greenlight Concepts has created a retro-modern line of lighting fixtures made using glass from recycled traffic lights. First, there are pendant lamps that come in 8″ or 12″ sizes. You have your choice of Ruby Red, Yielding Yellow, or Go Green. They also make 8″ and 12″ bucket lamp, which is perfect if you need a floor light.

Here’s the website description: his clean and simple design highlights a beautifully textured glass lens against lustrous, satin, aluminum housing.  “GO” ahead and place over kitchen counters, a desk in your office, or above the dining table.  Where ever these treasures hang, they’ll be sure to bring some shimmering brilliance.

I definitely think the pendants would be best above a kitchen island or dining room table. The bucket lights would look great sitting next to a lounge chair in your living room. They are certainly a unique lighting option, that could transform a bland space into a designer room. The best part: Well, that would have to be the price tag. One of my biggest complaints about up-cycled items is that they are overpriced. “Going green” usually costs a lot of green…green I don’t have after last weekends trip to Goldcoast in Detroit. But at $240.00 these are a steal. They are less expensive than a lot of the modern pendants at Lowe’s and Home Depot, and a lot more attractive. Evidence here:
